33kV Overhead Line Material List: Turn a Structure Schedule into a Quotation-Ready BOQ

33kV Overhead Line Material List: Turn a Structure Schedule into a Quotation-Ready BOQ

A quotation-ready 33kV overhead line material list should be built from the approved structure schedule, not route length alone. Expand each structure code into one complete assembly, then add route-wide conductors, point equipment, spares, documents and packing codes separately. Confirm the highest equipment voltage, conductor and insulator interfaces, drawings and environment before final selection.

STEP 1 · SEPARATE THE SCOPE

How to build a quotation-ready 33kV material list from the structure schedule.

Do not begin with one long catalogue list. Separate items by the quantity source that controls them. This makes changes easier to trace and exposes missing data before suppliers price the BOQ.

01

Structure-specific assemblies

Crossarms, braces, insulator sets, suspension or tension fittings, fasteners, guys and structure earthing are calculated from each structure code and drawing.

02

Route-wide materials

Phase conductors, earth wire or fiber cable, repair materials and drum quantities are controlled by route, circuit, sagging and stringing data—not by structure count alone.

03

Point equipment and interfaces

Transformer points, surge arresters, fuse cutouts, switches, reclosers, cable terminations and special earthing are assigned to named locations or structure codes.

04

Spares, documents and packing

Keep spares as separate BOQ lines and connect required drawings, inspection records and package marks to the related items or assemblies.

STEP 2 · EXPAND EACH CODE

Turn every structure type into a complete assembly.

A kilometre value cannot identify the mix of tangent, angle, dead-end, terminal, branch, transformer or cable-transition structures. Create one controlled assembly for each approved code, then multiply by the schedule quantity.

Tangent / suspension

Confirm crossarm geometry, suspension insulator duty, clamp interface, ties or links, fasteners and any structure-specific earthing.

Angle and dead-end

Separate light-angle, heavy-angle and dead-end duties where drawings require different tension assemblies, guys, anchors or stronger pole-top hardware.

Terminal and branch

Include jumper connections, terminal hardware, branch connectors, protection and any changes in conductor or insulator arrangement.

Transformer and cable transition

Add equipment supports, arresters, fuse cutouts, cable terminations, connectors, earthing and mounting hardware from the approved interface drawing.

Communication interface

If OPGW, ADSS or another communication system is included, match every cable accessory to its structure and cable interface.

Special structures

Road crossings, long spans and other special locations require their own confirmed design inputs. Do not copy the nearest standard structure by assumption.

Quantity rule: one approved assembly × confirmed structure quantity, plus route-wide materials, point equipment and separately stated spares. Complete sets and loose accessories must not be counted twice.
DRAWING CHECK

A crossarm quantity is not enough—carry the drawing details into the BOQ.

This supplied one-page drawing is useful for geometry and hardware review, but it does not state a voltage class or governing standard. Keep those project requirements separate from what the drawing itself can prove.

Procurement review copy derived from the supplied crossarm drawing; no customer name or third-party title block is shown.

What the drawing lets a buyer check

  • Separate straight-line and angle-structure arrangements
  • Member/profile designation and overall dimensions
  • Hole diameter, spacing and attachment positions
  • Plate or bracket details and M16 fixing callouts
  • Required set quantities for each arrangement

Still to confirm: approved revision, structure code, design loads, galvanizing requirement, voltage and insulation basis, governing specification and purchaser acceptance.

STEP 3 · MAKE OFFERS COMPARABLE

Use BOQ columns that show what every supplier is offering.

A description and quantity are not enough. These fields help purchasing and engineering teams compare models, standards, drawings, evidence and deviations before commercial evaluation.

Identification Item reference, structure code, description, unit and required quantity.
Offered product Manufacturer or supply responsibility, offered model, material and surface finish.
Technical basis Standard and edition, drawing number and revision, electrical rating, mechanical rating and confirmed interfaces.
Evidence required Data sheet, drawing, material certificate, inspection record, test document or other agreed submittal for that line item.
Clarification control Confirmed requirement, supplier deviation, purchaser clarification and approval status kept in separate columns.
Delivery control Spare quantity, package mark, BOQ or structure code, requested delivery lot and any special packing instruction.
TWO BUYER PATHS

Project buyers and distributors use the list differently.

Both need technical compatibility, but their quantity, documentation and commercial questions are different. The inquiry should make the purchasing model clear.

For project procurement teams

  • Structure-by-structure BOQ and drawing references
  • Technical compliance or clarification record for each item
  • Interfaces between conductor, insulator, hardware and equipment
  • Inspection documents, package coding and handover files
  • Destination, Incoterm and required delivery milestones

For distributors and importers

  • Product families and interface variants intended for stock
  • Repeat-order quantities, MOQ and production lead-time inputs
  • Mixed-order feasibility subject to confirmed product scope
  • Warehouse, retail or OEM labelling and packaging
  • Destination, shipment plan and import documents
COMMON BOQ GAPS

Six 33kV errors that produce incomplete quotations.

Open technical and commercial inputs should remain visible until the purchaser and its engineer confirm them.

Conductor data stops at mm²Add designation, material, construction, diameter, tensile data and ruling span where relevant.

Point interfaces are omittedCheck transformer, cable-transition, protection, earthing and OPGW or ADSS attachment requirements by location.
Spares and packing are hidden in totalsList spares separately and assign stable BOQ, structure or shipment codes to each export package.
REAL PROCESS EVIDENCE

Physical products, storage and export protection.

The real pole, insulator and drum images below support specific BOQ checks. They are physical-product, storage and handling evidence; they do not by themselves prove a voltage class, a named project or every product category in the material list.

Evidence boundary: KOVYEL’s core manufacturing base focuses on pole-line hardware and suitable drawing-based metal components. Other product categories may be coordinated through qualified supply partners, with responsibilities and documents kept item-specific. Review the factory and quality evidence.

SUPPLY-ONLY BOUNDARY

What KOVYEL can coordinate.

KOVYEL supports BOQ normalization and product matching, equipment and material supply, item-specific document coordination, export packing and shipment coordination after technical and commercial confirmation.

Civil works, line design, installation, site testing, commissioning and grid connection are not included. Final design decisions and technical acceptance remain with the purchaser and its appointed engineer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there one standard 33kV overhead line material list?

No. The final list depends on the approved system basis, structure schedule, conductor, insulation, protection philosophy, cable and transformer interfaces, environment and governing project specification.

Does a 33kV network always use 36kV-class equipment?

No universal assumption should be made. Confirm the project highest equipment voltage, insulation requirements and utility or project specification before selecting equipment.

How are structure quantities converted into BOQ quantities?

Define one complete assembly for each approved structure code, multiply it by the confirmed schedule quantity, then add route-wide materials, point equipment and separately stated spares.

Can line fittings be selected from conductor cross-section alone?

No. Matching may also depend on conductor material, designation, construction, diameter, tensile data and the required suspension, tension, connection or protection function.

Can KOVYEL review an incomplete 33kV BOQ?

Yes. KOVYEL can normalize item descriptions and identify missing data for clarification. A preliminary quotation should clearly separate confirmed requirements from assumptions or pending inputs.

Does KOVYEL design, install or commission the 33kV line?

No. KOVYEL supports equipment and material supply, BOQ normalization, product matching, available documents, export packing and shipment coordination. Line design, civil works, installation, testing and commissioning are outside that scope.
